Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU to every single person who got involved in my Front Steps Project!

These photographs have been a huge part of my life for the last two months and there’s no denying it’s taken a lot of time and hard work… but I’ve met some truly wonderful people.

The main drive was always to make households across the city feel more connected, and less alone as we all stepped back and shut ourselves off from society. The smiles I’ve been blessed with have brought me a lot of joy as I tootled about with my camera (often with my little girl in tow) but, as with so many of you, lockdown has been a strain on my family & mental health. Having a project where I could really be of use and into which I could channel my energies has been a godsend. It’s been a lot of fun but I’ve been humbled by your stories of struggles and enduring positivity through these challenging times. And edging away to keep a 2m distance from trusting toddlers as they ran towards me never got any easier!

Over 8 weeks I have photographed 177 households and raised £2,440 for the brilliant charity that is MFR Cash for Kids. Thank you to Lyndsay and the team at MFR for all your support and encouragement.

I’m hoping this total will be pushed up a bit, as various people are yet to make a donation and it would be fantastic to hit the £2,500 mark! If you have been photographed (or if you’re just a lovely person who wants to help MFR Cash for Kids!) then the link to the justgiving page is https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/AlisonWhitePhotography.

But, for now at least, it is time for me to sign off the Front Steps Project. I closed the application form at the beginning of June and the photos I posted today (21st June 2020) will be the last. Now I need to focus on my own business to make sure I’m in the best position possible as lockdown starts to ease. If you have enjoyed these photos then please have a look through my website and support my business. I photograph families, but also do a lot of commercial work and weddings, so I may well be the photographer you need for other projects.

BUT If you would still like a doorstep photo, read on!

After a short break, I will be resuming Doorstep style photo sessions, but they will be longer sessions where I can spend more time with your family and in turn deliver more photographs. These will soon be available to book on my website and I will post about them on my page soon. While I can’t work for charity indefinitely, I will be donating 20% of my fee for these sessions to The Haven Appeal, raising funds to build a respite centre for adults with special needs in Inverness.

So, for all of you who have come along with me on this amazing project over the past few months, thank you. It has been a pleasure and indeed a true honour to be welcomed into the lives of your families. THANK YOU!
