I met Ellie at a wedding fair on the 11th of January and had a lovely time chatting with her and maid of honour Holly. But, Chris had only just proposed over the festive season, so wedding bells were probably a while away yet. But I hoped that some time over the next couple of years I'd be booked for what I knew would be a fantastic celebration.
Ellie had mentioned that they live in Australia and were home in Scotland for the holidays. But the worry of a family illness put a fire under them to just get on with it and take advantage of their time over in their homeland of Scotland!
And you know what, there was not one part of their day that even slightly hinted that the whole thing had been organised in under 3 weeks.
The pair chose to marry at The Loch Ness Country House Hotel in Inverness – one of my most visited wedding venues and one of my absolute favourites. The hotel was stunning as always, almost all of their families had managed to secure time and travel to attend, they'd managed to book every one of the fantastic suppliers they'd wanted and, somehow, everything just fell into place.
I started the day with Ellie, her mum and her bridesmaids, capturing lots of gorgeous getting ready shots whilst they sipped on cocktails. After spending some time with the groomsmen, I headed back over to the girls to shoot Ellie’s first look with her dad. Safe to say there was not a dry eye in the room!
The ever-hilarious Halde Pottinger led a lovely humanist ceremony that had everyone in creases, followed by confetti, hugs and drinks outside (despite it being January!)
Even the serene golden winter sun blessed the day, with Walter from Highland Love Stories and Penny from Your Social Dream having to put up with my giddiness as we captured beautiful moments for this very special couple down at Loch Ness. Then after our couple’s shoot, it was time for group shots, speeches and of course, dancing!
And throughour the whole day, Ellie & Chris' joy was palpable and loud and fun and expressive. They relished having their families and friends rallying around them, and the love that has held them fast through life and studies and travels and moving halfway across the world together was a pleasure to witness.
Such a special day! Thank you so much Ellie & Chris for having me, and I'm so glad everything worked out just as you'd dreamed.
